Data Deletion Policy
How to request deletion of personal data held by TheTechLane.
This Data Deletion Policy explains how to ask TheTechLane to delete personal data we hold about you. Read it with the Privacy Policy.
1. How to request deletion
Email privacy@thetechlane.in or use the contact form. Tell us the email address on the account (or the address you used to subscribe or write to us). We may ask you to confirm you control that inbox before we delete data.
We aim to complete a verified request within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days, unless law or a security investigation requires more time.
2. What we delete
Where the data is ours to delete, a request can cover:
- Account profile (display name, bio, avatar, username)
- Email address and notification preferences
- Newsletter subscription for that address
- Saved bookmarks and similar account-only records
- Contact-form messages you sent, unless we must keep them for a dispute
3. What we may retain
We keep the minimum needed for law, security, and fraud prevention — for example server logs, abuse records, and backups that roll off on their normal schedule. We do not use retained copies to market to you.
4. Published articles and comments
Deleting an account does not automatically unpublish articles already on the site. Those pages stay for readers. We can replace a byline with a generic attribution such as “Former author” on request. Comment threads may keep the text with the username removed or anonymized so the discussion still makes sense.
5. Third parties
If you signed in with Google, or if Google AdSense / analytics set cookies in your browser, those companies hold data under their own policies. Deleting your TheTechLane account does not delete Google’s copies. Use Google account and Ads Settings for that.
